I recently interviewed Mikeila just after her works were recognized by Dark Beauty Magazine:
How did your work begin and where did you study?
My work began as a child with afinicion with drawing, and then with photography in an amateur unconscious way. At 18, I was given my first reflex camera and since then I could not stop photographing. I photographed everything that was in front of my lens! I studied at the Argentinean Photographic Center and then at the School of Creative Photography Andy Goldstein. I later studied Art Direction at the Brother School. I also studied theater and body language among other things.
How do you spend a typical work day?
A typical day as a photographer or any kind of artistic day, I think it is based on looking at stimuli to feed the source of your imagination. I watch for signs that we face all the time, to learn to observe every detail, to see the light and the everyday. I dedicate many hours to teaching and to improve more. The more I improve, the more I learn new things.
“My works are of a very broad and conceptual world. A channel open to many interpretations.”
Would you consider yourself an artist and/or photographer? Or Both?
I prefer not to be labeled. I just know that the field of artistic expression within the image that moves me is supreme. There is something in the creative process, which is expressed when one enters a channel of energy and harmony with the universe. Therefore, we express not to die inside.
What are some of the programs you use to perfect your artistic/photographic style?
I use for most of my work Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, Lightroom and Bridge.
Many of your photographs have been published in online magazines such as Scorpio Jin and most recently Dark Beauty Magazine. How has this impacted your career as an artist?
The publications are always a surprise of joy. I am very happy that my work impacts so many people. I always get emails from people all over the world.
I like for people to give me an opinion of my work, what inspired them. What they felt. How is it interpreted. My works are a very broad and conceptual world. A channel open to many interpretations.
The publications have opened the door to many other job opportunities or a way to introduce my work in different parts of the world. The publications also inspire me and are an incentive to continue creating more and better artistic works.
“At 18, I was given my first reflex camera and since then I could not stop photographing. I photographed everything that was in front of my lens! “
